Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming....

Thursdays are pretty busy; I posted earlier about Thankful Thursday, but it's also time for Thursday Training!  Now, don't get me wrong, I am not much of an agility trainer (although, I do love to jump through the windows of my human brother's playhouse); but, with summer approaching, my humans have decided to work on actually getting me into the pool some safety training with me.  Since there were treats involved, I made like Dory from my favorite movie and decided to just keep swimming.  Well, I'm not swimming yet - but I did agree to wear my swim vest and try something New.

Ahh, the swim vest.  Bulky and bright, but so very important.  According to my humans, this is the first step to getting me in the pool.  Seriously, all I had to do was let the put the vest on me and walk around with it.  And they gave me treats.  They gave me my FAVORITE treats.  I am pretty sure that I duped them on this one.  As you can see, I did not mind the swim vest at all.

The swim vest that my humans selected is snug but not too tight, and is the appropriate size for my weight and length (according to the manufacturer's tags and instructions).  The vest also has two handles on it so that my humans can grab me quickly and easily in case of an emergency.  Which isn't going to happen.  (Right?  RIGHT?!)  Personally, the color is what sold me.  Nice contrast against my white fur and very much in style.  I am so vogue.

Looks like I am ready for lesson number two:  putting the paws in the water.  YIKES!  Hope it isn't too cold.  I'd rather lay out on a float sipping my pina colada, but it seems like I don't have much of a choice in the matter.  As the old saying goes, safety first!  Anyone out there like to swim?  Any swimming stories?  Tell me all about it!

This is the Thursday Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by Heart Like A Dog and 2 Brown Dawgs.

  1. I hope the vest helps give you a bit of confidence in the water. Similar to the water wings the kids use. I myself like swimming and our Delilah does as well, but Sampson does not. He will do it, but usually only a lap around, just to cool off and then he's done.

Thank you for joining the blog hop!

  2. Brown dawgs live to swim and we bet you will too once you get used to it. We like your vest. Did you have trouble finding one that fits? That is brown dawgs issue with their hunting vets. It is difficult to find just the right fit. Thanks for joining the hop!

    1. I hope I learn to like it - these Florida summers get super hot, and the pool would be so nice to help me cool down! It was tricky, but luckily we found a nice-fitting vest at Petco. So glad that I found the hop, and thank you for stopping by!

  3. My German shepherds want nothing to do with swimming. The water is not allowed to go any higher than their bellies. Of course, their bellies are higher than yours! Your vest is stylish!

    1. Yes, I am definitely a little closer to sea level than your German shepherds LoL! Hopefully the vest helps me float - I have a tendency to play anchor and sink. I'll keep you updated! Thanks for the visit :)
