First things first - gather your materials. You will need: one white cotton t-shirt, a tennis ball, a pair of sharp scissors, and a black marker. Don't forget to nap on your materials.
Next, cut the arms and shoulder off of the shirt. This step is for humans only, unless you are like me and have skills.
After you have finished the first cut, go ahead and cut down the side seam so you have one long piece of fabric.
Place the tennis ball right in the middle of the fabric. Now would be a good time to sniff the tennis ball. And attack it. But then put it back in the middle.
Fold one side over the tennis ball.
Then fold the other side over.
Bring the two sides together and tie a double knot.
Next, cut each side into six strands. You should have twelve strands total.
Once the strands are cut, select three strands at a time and braid them. You should end up with four braids total. This step also requires skill. Or some human hands. Whichever is readily available.
Finally, use the black marker to draw a spooky face on the ghost tug toy and curl up in your bed to take a nap. You worked hard!
I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments on this project - especially if you give it a try!
Awww, that's awesome! I love DIY toys. If I had a dog, I'd totally make one -- maybe I need to do the feline equivalent, with a ping-pong ball. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! DIY toys are so much fun! A cat equivalent sounds great!! If you create one please let me know, I'd love to link to it (with your permission, of course)!
DeleteThanks Daisy that toy is pretty cool

Thanks! Makes for some really fun tug-of-war!
DeleteI love it! Very cool way to make a fun toy out of some old materials. Shiner seems to love stuff like this. She would probably play with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We love re-purposing stuff around the house - saves money AND makes for fun play time!
DeleteThat is an adorable toy for the season!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteBahaha! What a cute and easy project...bet even I could do that. Daisy is so talented, you must be so proud =)
ReplyDeleteHahaha thanks! We sure do get a lot done around here sans thumbs!
DeleteOK, even craft-challenged *I* could do that! Not to take away from Daisy's skills or anything. Great idea, and SO cute! Love the "napping" on the materials step. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you! Napping on the materials is vitally important!
DeleteThat's a fun toy idea! It's a great way to recycle old shirts too and not too expensive if you need to get a new one!
